Project evaluations
Project evaluations give you an independent view on
whether a project delivers the right type of support in the right way and
whether it has achieved expected results. Project evaluations contribute to
organizational learning and ensure accountability of project implementers
towards donors and beneficiaries. Evaluations assess projects against the
following five standard criteria:
Relevance: Did the project
respond to the needs of beneficiaries?
Coherence: Was the project compatible
with other ongoing or completed projects?
Effectiveness: Has the project
delivered its outputs and is it likely to generate the expected outcomes and
contribute to the expected broader impact?
Efficiency: Has the project
delivered its outputs timely and economically?
Sustainability: Are the project’s
benefits likely to continue after its end?
Additional
criteria might be used if requested by the client.
Evaluations use evidence-based
findings. Information that is used to establish the findings is collected and
validated through a mix of different sources, including desk study, interviews,
and personal observation. The assessment, conclusions, recommendations, and
lessons learned are derived from these evidence-based findings.
While
maintaining independence, evaluations use a participatory learning approach. The
views of all stakeholders are considered. Our evaluation reports provide an
assessment, conclusions, clearly targeted, feasible recommendations and
identifies key lessons learned of wider applicability. The specific focus of
the evaluation will be defined together with the client.
